“China–West Soundscape” Concert -The 3rd London International Chinese Music Festival

As part of the London International Chinese Music Festival 2025, the “China–West Soundscape” concert celebrates the creative dialogue between Chinese and Western musical traditions. Featuring distinguished musicians and composers from both East and West, the evening presents a dynamic mix of UK and world premieres that bridge instruments, cultures, and generations.

Programme Highlights:

  • Sacred Cloud Music (庆云乐) – Zhao Jiping, for guqin and string quartet (UK Premiere)
  • Skye Boat Song (斯凯船歌) – arr. Ray Lin, for guqin ensemble and organ (World Premiere)
  • Shadow of Sword (剑影) – Ray Lin, for 5-stringed pipa and string quartet (World Premiere)
  • Lady of Loulan (楼兰女) – Zhong Yaoguang, for yangqin and piano (UK Premiere)
  • One Undivided (无二) – Sun Keting, for Chinese and Western string octet
  • Chronotope Folds (时空折叠) – Li Linhao, for mixed chamber ensemble (World Premiere)
  • Carnival of Miao Village (苗寨狂欢) – Li Xinyan, for Chinese–Western ensemble (UK Premiere)
  • Lotus Plucking (采莲) – Li Xinyan, for silk-and-bamboo ensemble (UK Premiere)
  • Camel Bells on the Silk Road (丝路驼铃) – Traditional, arr. for Chinese–Western orchestra
