Pipa virtuoso Cheng Yu is honoured to be invited by the University of Manchester to perform with the internationally acclaimed Quatuor Danel in this special lunchtime concert.

The programme presents a dialogue between Chinese and Western contemporary and traditional music, featuring both solo pipa repertoire and a world premiere for pipa and string quartet by composer Joshua Brown.

This collaboration highlights the expressive possibilities of the pipa within a Western chamber music context, bringing together diverse musical traditions through refined performance and new composition.
